SALDANHA BAY – NEARBY ACTIVITIES
Saldanha Bay is a favourite destination for water sport enthusiasts and sailors. The Saldanha Bay Yacht Club hosts races once a month, and organizes cruises around the lagoon or out to sea.
In late winter and spring, the SAS Saldanha Nature Reserve is a floral wonderland of spring flowers. Visitors can see a range of bird life and wildlife in the reserve, where larger animals such as bontebok, ostriches and springbok have also been introduced. There are a number of biking, hiking and walking trails in the reserve and around the town for visitors to immerse themselves in the unspoiled natural surroundings.
Being dependent on its vibrant commercial fishing industry revolving around crayfish, fish, mussels, oysters and seaweed, there is a great array of fresh seafood at local restaurants.
